5 Big Questions with Vaqueros Team Doctor Omar Selod

Vaqueros Team doctor Omar Selod took time out of his busy schedule to answer: The Big 5 Questions.

Here’s what VFC supporters need to know about the man keeping the Vaqueros on the field.

Name: Omar Selod D.O.
Nickname: Dr “O” or “Brown Tiger” – that’s a golf nickname
Employer/Business Name: Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician (self employed)
Title: Physician
Alma Mater: University of Texas at Arlington

5 Big Questions with Omar Selod

1. What was your motivation for pursuing a career in the medical field?
“Mom and Dad are doctors. So what else was I supposed to do? It is in our blood I guess.”

2. Where did your love of sports originate?
“No idea. My dad immigrated from a foreign country. He said when I was a toddler all I wanted to do is watch football on TV rather than cartoons. So he started watching with me and now we both love sports.”

3. What is the most rewarding part of your practice?
“Rehab Medicine (or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) is a great field. I get to work with great therapists/nurses and the bond between patient, therapist, nurse, and myself is pretty rewarding especially when the patient is able to get out of pain or increase their overall function (be it a sports injury, back injury, or recovering from a difficult situation such as a stroke or amputation). Increasing a patient’s function (be it return to sports, work, exercise, or daily activity) is very rewarding.”

4. What sparked your interest in working with the Vaqueros?
“I just love soccer. I played the game and now coach my kids. Fort Worth needs soccer. The ground is fertile. Getting to know Hitch, Coach Snell, and some of the players has been great. They are all great for Fort Worth and hopefully we can keep this going forward.”

5. What else is important to you that we didn’t ask?
“Ronaldo or Messi? I say CR7! HaHa. All is great.

Thanks,
Omar”
